Hello! My name is Mikayla and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the State of Oregon. With over a decade of professional experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, I have developed a deep understanding of this unique population. My work is guided by a person-centered, trauma-informed approach, incorporating a variety of therapeutic modalities to meet the distinct needs of each client. I believe in a collaborative, client-centered approach that emphasizes the strengths and resilience of individuals and families.
In addition to my clinical qualifications, I hold a Certificate in Leadership in Criminal Justice and a diploma in Therapeutic Life Story Work. I have also completed extensive training in parent-child contact issues. My professional background is diverse, spanning forensic case management, counseling, reunification work, program management, and hospital social work, which has equipped me with a comprehensive skill set and broad experience in various social service sectors.
I am passionate about education and professional development, and I teach part-time in the social work program at a local college, sharing my knowledge and helping to shape the next generation of social workers. My personal background, growing up in a medical foster home and gaining four siblings through adoption from the child welfare system has further shaped my empathetic approach to client care.
